About Me
My working life has been in the field of therapeutic education, emotional and psychological wellbeing and mental health, and has been with both adults and young people.
My original trainings were in education and therapeutic work with children and young people. For a considerable number of years I worked children and young people who experienced emotional and psychological difficulties, firstly in a day centre and then in a psychodynamically oriented residential therapeutic community for very troubled young people. In this latter setting I was involved in organisational development, staff management, training and supervision. Subsequent to my analytic training I was invited to become Consultant Psychotherapist to the staff group.
I trained as an Analytical Psychologist / Jungian Analyst with the 'Association of Jungian Analysts' (AJA) in London and have been in private practice since 1995.
Completion of this training also allows me membership of, 'The International Association for Analytical Psychology', (IAAP), whose purpose is to oversee the practice and continued development of Analytical Psychology (The Jungian approach to psychoanalysis). There are only approximately 3,000 Jungian Analysts worldwide.
Professionally I am registered with The BPC (British Psychoanalytic Council) . This body seeks to ensure that practicing analysts and therapists are properly trained and qualified and that they adhere to rigorous ethical and professional standards in their clinical work. This organisations maintains a register of suitably qualified practitioners and is itself registered with the Professional Standards Authority Accredited.
As a member of these organisation I am bound by and practice under their codes of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
Between 2002 and 2012, alongside working with adults in my private practice, I set up and managed a counselling service for young people within an established counselling service run by a small local charity based in Gloucestershire.
At the beginning of 2012 I moved to Cornwall and have re-established my psychotherapy and analytic practice with adults in Falmouth.
